Group Marbles

Group Marbles

In Room Five in the past few weeks we have been competing against each in our table groups trying to collect marbles the highest amount of marbles is probably 7, Levis group has had 4 weeks in a row probably a class record, but if we are talking when the teachers talking we get a marble taken away.

People in room five have been trying to earn raffles by being good, sometimes if we are extra good but its only one person we get 5 or 6 raffles or if its every one working together we get one each, what we do is we rip of a piece of a scrap bit of paper and write our name on it and at the end of the week Mr Davis draws out a name and who ever that was is going to be is helping hand of the week that gets to sit on a chair instead of the chair.

Swimming

Room 5 is swimming every day, but not when something is wrong with the pools.
For swimming we are practicing to rescue people and to hold onto something and shout, help, help when we are struggling. Yesterday we used a plank and a piece of a rope to rescue a class mate (not really) and a chilly bin to help us stay afloat.
We also worked on some diving some of us are amazing and some of us need more work.
We are really good and love swimming in the pool.

The Silver Sword

Room 5 is reading The Silver Sword.
It is a good book with an interesting background because it is based on a true story.
It all stared in Warsaw with a happy family. They were poor but happy. Then Disaster struck and war started. Joseph was taken away from his family. His family he had three children called Ruth, Bronia and Edek. When the war started their life became very harsh. It was hard. A lot of places in the town were ruined from bombing and it was impossible to lead a normal life. All the time they were worried about their missing father who was in a prisoner of war camp. Joesph never gave up. He was determined to get back to his family. He tried many things but none of them worked hard enough. In the winter he was to ill to plan an escape. He was surprised at the many people who died every day. He escaped the prison camp and hid in a cage to get away from the guards. When he returned to his home he was amazed that there was no house standing. People were living in bomb shelters and rubble. There was barely any food now. We are still reading it in class so we will let you know what happens once we have read it. It is a brilliant book!
