The Silver Sword

Room 5 is reading The Silver Sword.
It is a good book with an interesting background because it is based on a true story.
It all stared in Warsaw with a happy family. They were poor but happy. Then Disaster struck and war started. Joseph was taken away from his family. His family he had three children called Ruth, Bronia and Edek. When the war started their life became very harsh. It was hard. A lot of places in the town were ruined from bombing and it was impossible to lead a normal life. All the time they were worried about their missing father who was in a prisoner of war camp. Joesph never gave up. He was determined to get back to his family. He tried many things but none of them worked hard enough. In the winter he was to ill to plan an escape. He was surprised at the many people who died every day. He escaped the prison camp and hid in a cage to get away from the guards. When he returned to his home he was amazed that there was no house standing. People were living in bomb shelters and rubble. There was barely any food now. We are still reading it in class so we will let you know what happens once we have read it. It is a brilliant book!
